Joe Borton serves as managing partner of the Idaho office for Rose Law Group. His practice is focused on land use and zoning, real estate development, business litigation and local politics. Mr. Borton has a broad experience in helping his clients solve real estate and land use matters throughout the Treasure Valley, before local councils, commissions and hearing officers. Mr. Borton also has an extensive litigation practice, having tried dozens of cases to judges and juries on a wide array of business and employment matters. Mr. Borton has also refined an appellate practice arguing before the Idaho Supreme Court.
Mr. Borton, raised in Idaho and a local graduate of Boise High School, earned his B.S. in Economics, with honors, from the University of Oregon, and earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Idaho. He practiced law locally in the Treasure Valley for eleven years prior to joining the Rose Law Group team.
In 2006 Mr. Borton was elected to the Meridian city council and quickly became President of the council in 2007. Mr. Borton remains very active in local land use politics and legislative activities as an elected official and land use attorney.
Mr. Borton also dedicates a large portion of his time to support several local business groups and charities. He currently serves as President of the Meridian Education Foundation, helping raise funds for grants to local teachers. Mr. Borton also serves as Vice-Chairman to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho, where he been a youth mentor for the past nine years. In 2002 Mr. Borton served as President to the Meridian Chamber of Commerce and remains active with their government affairs department. In 2004 Mr. Borton was recognized by the Idaho Business Review as a "40 under 40" recipient, honoring the top 40 business professionals under the age of 40. In 2002 he was selected as Idaho's "Big brother of the Year" for his dedicated service to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Idaho. Giving back to his community has always been, and will always be, a large part of Mr. Borton's priorities.
In his spare time Mr. Borton enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, coaching them in football, camping with his family, and has been an active triathlete having completed 11 Olympic distance triathlons.
