PHOENIX — Two years after a shocking animal abuse case rocked the Valley, Arizona has implemented a new law that strengthens protections against animal cruelty and neglect.
On June 27, Gov. Katie Hobbs signed SB 1658, which better defines animal cruelty and requires owners to provide animals with an appropriate amount of food, water and shelter. She held a ceremony to celebrate the bill’s passage into law on Monday.
