Arizona’s Prop. 208 Tax Hike Triggers Landmark Recovery’s HQ Exodus To Tennessee

On Nov. 5, a majority of voters in Arizona approved a 3.5% income tax surcharge on the state’s highest earners. Fifteen days later, Matthew Boyle voted with his business, informing employees that he was moving the headquarters of his family’s behavioral health company out of Scottsdale.

Franklin, Tennessee, just south of Nashville, will be the new home of Landmark Recovery, which focuses on drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Boyle is bringing about 100 jobs with him, with plans to more than double that headcount within a couple of years.
