Board of Supervisors Chairman Thomas Galvin talks to 12News about his call to end DOJ’s Phoenix police probe

Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Thomas Galvin is urging newly appointed U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to end the Department of Justice’s investigation into the Phoenix Police Department, calling it politically motivated and counterproductive.

In a letter sent this week to Bondi, Galvin requested that the DOJ halt efforts to impose federal oversight on Phoenix police, including any pursuit of a consent decree. Galvin also criticized the ongoing federal monitoring of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, saying it has become an ineffective and costly burden on taxpayers.
