The Casa Grande City Council voted 7-0 Wednesday night to approve a rezone change of 1,500 acres for a proposed amusement park, setting the stage for the massive project to begin construction.

The land along Interstate 8 was rezoned for a planned area development to include Dreamport Villages, a proposed extreme sports park.

The Block Sports Group, parent company of Dreamport Villages, also plans to include residential and commercial spaces.

Dreamport Villages received a favorable recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission in March.
