COOLIDGE — A panel of development leaders told a Pinal Partnership breakfast at Central Arizona College that development will continue despite community concerns regarding an oversupply of apartments.

The five-member panel on Friday comprised Brad Hinton, vice president of El Dorado Holdings Inc.; Dedrick Denton, interim associate director of the Pinal County Development Services Department; Kevin Peterson, president of Peterson Properties & Management Inc.; Dan Coxworth, Casa Grande planning and development director; and Sherri Koshiol, director of land development at Empire Group of Companies. They were asked a series of questions by moderator Jordan Rose.

Peterson said his company is in the process of building 9,000 new housing units. He also revealed plans for a “2.0” version of The Hideout Steakhouse in Eloy where the old San Miguel Golf Course is being reconfigured to host a new steakhouse, wedding and entertainment venue.

“We have master plan communities in Florence and we have right now either platted or are in the process for almost 9,000 housing units and that’s spread out across all of Pinal County,” Peterson said.

“We just bought the Old San Miguel golf course and we’re converting the clubhouse to an entertainment center. Our partner that we have in Casa Grande at The Hideout is Todd Gillespie. He’s going to come down and it’s going to be Hideout 2.0 and it’s gonna have a whole different twist. In addition to just food, it’s going to be entertainment. We’re going to have a stage, we’re going to have a place for weddings and venues. We’re excited about it.”

Koshiol like Peterson said growth remains strong in Pinal County and that the product that her company is offering in the form of “horizontal houses” or casitas is proving to be a very popular option.
