EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s air quality announcement is ‘a victory for our environment,’ says Maricopa County Supervisor and Rose Law Group Partner Thomas Galvin

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the proposed approval of an innovative air quality rule by Maricopa County to support Arizona’s continued economic expansion while maintaining clean air for the region. Administrator Zeldin was joined by Rose Law Group partner and Maricopa County Supervisor Thomas Galvin and several elected officials and business leaders at the announcement.

If ratified as proposed, Maricopa County’s Air Quality Rule 204, “Emission Offsets Generated by Voluntary Nonroad Engine Emission Reductions,” would let important American industries, like high-tech manufacturing and power plants, to use emission reduction credits (ERCs) from voluntary non-road engine emissions reductions to build and expand production without increasing emissions.

Galvin said in the joint press release with the EPA, “Today’s announcement is a victory for our environment, the economy, and common-sense regulation reform. Maricopa County has proven our residents don’t have to choose between a clean air and economic opportunity. I’m grateful to EPA Administrator Zeldin, county officials, and business leaders who helped make this possible, and we will continue looking for ways to partner with the federal government to streamline regulation impacting Maricopa County homes and businesses.”
