A proposed zoning text amendment to the city’s medical marijuana dispensaries that was scheduled for the Jan. 4 planning commission meeting was withdrawn by the Rose Law Group representative until the next planning commission meeting Feb. 1.

“The request has been pulled, as the applicant has asked for a continuance until the next meeting on Feb. 1,” said Planning Commission Chairman Arthur Dobblaere, before the meeting began.

They then offered anyone who was present to comment on the issue to speak, but nobody came forward.

The proposed zoning text amendment by Tom Galvin of the Rose Law Group, representing Arizona Organix Inc., would have make changes to the requirements that currently allow dispensaries to be a maximum of 2,000 square feet and hours of operation from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. They are requesting changes that would triple the maximum size to 6,000 square feet and allow them to be open two hours longer, until 10 p.m.
