David Newquist has a new 8.5-acre development sprouting at Queen Creek and Ellsworth Roads in Queen Creek.

A Dutch Bros Coffee has opened, A new Whataburger restaurant is under construction an ALDI grocery store is planned there.

Newquist also partnered with the town of Queen Creek on improvements to the busy East Valley intersection.

Now, Newquist — who is principal with Tempe-based Newquist Commercial Properties — is moving ahead with a new 70,000-square-foot retail and medical office center at Ellsworth and Riggs Roads also in Queen Creek.

Don Meyers with Aspen Group is also partnering with Newquist on the new Queen Creek development.

Pecan Plaza is slated to be developed on the northwest corner of the intersection. “It was a vacant site,” he said.

The development will be anchored by a 40,000-square-foot EOS Fitness, three restaurants/coffee shop pads, a 3,600-square-foot medical office pad and two buildings totaling 16,000 square feet for retail, restaurants and medical offices.

“We have some medical tenants we are talking to,”  Newquist said.

The 9.7-acre project has secured site plan, pre-plat and sign plan approvals from the town of Queen Creek.

Newquist said he still needs to get final plat approvals and work out a federal irrigation easement. He is optimistic construction will start in the fourth quarter of this year or early 2021.
