Tailings, or waste rock, from the future Resolution Copper mine near Superior will be deposited at a location farther from Florence than previously proposed.

The mine’s filter plant, once proposed for north of Florence, could be located closer to Superior.

These were among the updates provided to the Florence Town Council on Monday.

A site known as Peg Leg, 14 miles east of Florence, was once considered for the mine’s tailings facility, but the preferred alternative is now a site known as Skunk Camp on the Pinal-Gila county line, Hesston Klenk with Resolution told the council.
