In a world where virtual reality and digital spaces are gaining ground, the Ethereum Mexico 2023 Hackathon event marked a milestone in the innovation of how we perceive and experience events. Rose Law Group had the honor of designing a custom virtual reality environment serving as a media partner to the event. The firm’s Director of Metaverse Planning and Design, Eduardo Dávalos, showcased his masterful architecture skills and moderated this year’s contest. After becoming the reigning champion in five Ethereum hackathons across the globe, organizers invited Dávalos to this time MC the competition, considering we think we know who’d win.

A Bridge Between Past and Future: The Aztec Metaverse

The metaverse space, which was meticulously modeled in 3D in the Spatial Metaverse platform, became an ode to the rich Aztec culture. Inspired by his own culture as a native to Mexico, Dávalos built the structure with imposing decorative pyramids that acted as stages for the different sessions and discussions that took place in the in-person event. This fusion of history and technology provided attendees with an unprecedented experience.

One of the main advantages of this metaverse was the live streaming of the entire event. Those who could not attend the event in person, had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a virtual space and experience the event as if they were there in Mexico. Not only could they watch the talks in real-time, but they also had the opportunity to interact and connect with other virtual attendees. Networking, an essential part of any event, was elevated to a new level in this metaverse, breaking the barriers of distance.

The Future of Events: Digital Twinning

The growing popularity of Ethereum hackathons highlights the immense potential of creating a “digital twin” in the metaverse for events that occur in the real world. It’s not just about replicating but improving and expanding the experience for attendees. While real-life participants can enjoy the tangible energy of the venue, those in the metaverse have the freedom to explore, interact, and connect in ways that were previously unreachable.

Ethereum Mexico 2023 not only stood out for its content and theme, but also served as a showcase for the future of events. By merging metaverse, IRL, and live broadcast, Rose Law Group demonstrated that they are on the frontier of a digital revolution in business transactions, the way we build community and the way we organize events.
