The planned look and landscaping for a Hawes Crossing MX Village 1 mixed-use development west of Hawes Road on the north side of Elliot Road were discussed at a recent meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board.

A total of 233 apartment units in four-story buildings are planned in the northern portion of the lot with two-story carriage homes fronting 82nd Street on the east side, Staff Planner Sean Pesek said at the board’s Sept. 12 meeting.

“And then to the south there are four commercial buildings — two multitenant buildings and then two freestanding drive-thru restaurants,” he said.

“There’s shared access from Elliot Road that extends north to the multiple-residence development. And then from the multiple-residence development there is an exit-only gate in the northeast corner. There’s also a 25-foot-wide open space buffer with a meandering trail that extends north from Elliot Road and will connect with Lennar’s open-space trail,” Pesek said.
