Emily Diaz started her professional career at the Arizona State Senate in January 2017. In that time she has held several positions at the Legislature such as senior senate page, senate constituent services liaison, senate information desk clerk, senate bill reader and both senate and house administrative assistant. She has assisted a total of six State Legislators from both political parties. Most recently, Emily directly assisted two lobbyists at their lobbying firm in Downtown Phoenix. Spending almost a decade in and around the Legislature has given her a great appreciation for Arizona and its constituents. She has also gained a unique perspective on Arizona Politics as well as a robust and comprehensive knowledge of the legislative process. Emily is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Justice and Human Rights at Arizona State University.
Before her time at the Legislature, Emily was a lifeguard for the City of Phoenix Aquatics Department. During her six years with the City of Phoenix, she was also a water aerobics instructor, assistant swim team coach, swim lesson instructor to children and adults, and taught children between the ages of 7-13 the basics of lifeguarding, water safety, CPR and first aid.
Emily met her husband, Alonzo while lifeguarding for the City of Phoenix. They have been together for almost a decade and married for 5 of those years. Together they have a happy and healthy 2 year old little boy named Mateo, who is the light of their lives. In her free time, Emily enjoys walks around her neighborhood with Alonzo, Mateo and their dog Billie.
