A “luxury” cigar bar will soon be lighting up in one of North Scottsdale’s rapidly changing neighborhoods.
One neighbor thinks the plan stinks.
“I live at Vi at Grayhawk, the second apartment facility to the east of the cigar project,” Tom Barret wrote to the city.
“I am concerned about smells from the cigar bar. Will the stench output from this cigar place be purified to clean air released into the environment?”
His concern went up in smoke.
On July 10, the Development Review Board unanimously recommended approval of rezoning to allow for a “two-story cigar bar and lounge club” at 20159 N. Scottsdale Road.
The location is part of the One Scottsdale sprawling in-process mixed-use development.
Somewhat ironically, the cigar bar is next to medical offices.
Thomas Galvin, an attorney with the Rose Law Group and a chair of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, answered questions from the board.
“This is a luxury project – fitting for Scottsdale, fitting for North Scottsdale,” Galvin said.
