Jordan Rose, founder and president of Rose Law Group, and Shruti Gurudanti, firm partner and corporate transactions director, talk with ABC15 about Sandra Day O’Connor’s lasting legacy for women in the legal field

Sandra Day O’Connor, who passed away on Dec. 1 at the age of 93, was the first woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court. Here’s just a little of what Rose Law Group Founder and President Jordan Rose, and firm partner and Corporate Transactions Director Shruti Gurudanti had to say to ABC15 about the impact Justice O’Connor had on them. ‘Sky’s the limit’: “I think every time someone succeeds that looks a little like you, that is certainly helpful in creating a situation that allows you to succeed,” Jordan says. “When I was 10 years old, the president appointed Sandra Day O’Connor to the Supreme Court and I remember watching that on TV and… I just knew the sky was the limit.” Paving the way: Pointing to O’Connor (as well as late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg), Shruti says she’s “been able to stand on the shoulders of these wonderful giants… I come from India, and while it is a democratic country, we do have certain restrictions on freedom of speech and so to me, her work and her commitment to this was extremely empowering.” O’Connor the unifier:“She took her skills as a legislator to the court and she was able to opine powerfully, but also bring the justices and the public together, and that was really rare and a real gift,” Jordan says.
