Dr. Carey Herbert is of Counsel with Rose Law Group. She most recently served as President and Securities Counsel for a real estate investment sponsor in Scottsdale, AZ, where she provided leadership and oversight of their funds, and was responsible for organizing, implementing, and overseeing their operations. As part of their legal team, Carey dealt with a variety of matters, including securities, corporate governance, SEC and FINRA regulatory compliance, product structuring and immigration, as well as financial pro forma and fund modeling. Carey also assisted with international structured product offerings, compliance with international securities regulations, and assisted with the company’s worldwide legal operational matters.

Previously, Carey spent eight years as a member of the corporate securities department in the Phoenix, AZ office of an international law firm, where her corporate securities transactional practice included private and public securities offerings, IPOs, public company reporting, proxy and annual shareholder meeting matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, banking, and financial restructuring. She also brings with her experience in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission in New York City.

Prior to her legal career, Carey was a professor in the Eller Business College at the University of Arizona, where she taught business law and undergraduate and graduate level business statistics. During her academic career, Carey earned fellowships and awards for distinction in research and teaching.

Originally from Canada, Carey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Econometrics and an MBA in Quantitative Marketing Analysis from the University of Alberta. She also has a Master of Science in Business Management, a Ph.D. in Management and Policy, with a concentration in corporate and white-collar crimes, and a Juris Doctorate degree, all from the University of Arizona.
